This news seems to stirred up some local forums. The issues was that a police car was parked at an area that would be illegal for other vehicles. A couple saw this and parked their car behind the cop's car and went to look for the cops to reason with them. They even took photos of the car. Somehow the cop showed them a sign that says no parking except police and authorised vehicle. The cops then booked the couple's car that was behind the cop's car. The guy tried to reason with the cop and he raised his voice with a "controlled" tone. The cop according to the news article shouted back if he wants to shout at a policeman. So what does this show? Most netizens from forums seems to agree the couple had it coming. Why do the couple want to ask the police to remove their vehicle when they themselves park there too? They didn't even bother to check the sign boards. Even without sign boards, I wouldn't mind if the police have to park in the void deck if they are responding to an emergency. The police are there to ensure security around us. So do you expect them to spend 10 to 15 mins to look for a parking space and probably put their coupons too? And for the guy who raised his voice, you are lucky the cops didn't book you and additional offense.

show biz wedding frown upon by fans
The wedding of Vivan Chow and her long time boyfriend Joe Nieh doesn't sits well for Vivan's fan, her friends and family as well the people who are watching from the world. How is it so? Vivan best known during the early 90s in some Hong Kong drama and movies as well as a singer for her sweet and youthful looks have been low key and together for almost 16 years, which was reported by some news articles. Joe was a DJ in Hong Kong, during the 16 years had "derailed" several times. He was always spotted by reporters with other ladies in his arms. Vivan was always forgiving however for the latest incident, she was going to marry Joe much to her fans, friends and family's disagreement. At least the fans showed it. Now Joe is controlling her handphone and no one can contact Vivan. So why did Vivan agree to the wedding? It would be unlikely that Joe would stop his "derailing" ways and into married life it would be a disaster for Vivan if it ever do happens. And if Vivan do broke up with Joe, most would agree that it would be easy to know someone much better than Joe. So I wonder if this is a case of love is blind or some show biz publicity stuns.

The Day The Earth Stood Still - My preview

If you watched the movie The Day The Earth Stood Still, I would say it is a good and entertaining show. What you read from newspaper about how bad it was, I would disagree. As an ordinary viewer, I do not care if the actors show good facial expression. What viewers want is consistent exciting scenes after scenes. It is definitely not boring. So what is the movie about? It is usually the normal alien invasion. But there is a sub plot. The alien explains that there is a united galactic federation of planets out there. So why Earth isn't one of them? That isn't the main reason. It was about Earth being heavily polluted that the Aliens are here to wipe out humans and their polluting activities to preserve the planet.
But I see a hidden message there. Humans who are given leadership in crisis have arrogant attitudes and would use violent to solve the problems and to show us who the boss is with their missiles. The Secretary of Defense, a lady who is the highest command in the country since their president and vice president had went into hiding. She wants the Alien to be interrogated instead of showing peace and being friendly to a guest entering visiting you. She would use missiles to attack the aliens. In the end, she had to leave it to the main characters to communicate to the alien while wasting away half the country. We sees these arrogant humans in movies all the time and it might happen to any real life leaders too.
Did you notice the giant alien guardian's model is similar to Amazo from the Justice League Animated cartoon?

transfering money from the counter is safer
If you ever uses the ATM to do money transfer to some other accounts, you have to be super extra careful. If you transfered to a wrong account, it would usually be bye bye to your money. While you can lodge a report to the bank, it doesn't always work. The bank would have to get the affected account holder to approve before they can transfer out the money. So if the account holder doesn't approve, you have to lodge a police report or a magistrate complaint. All these takes time and will it be worth those money you just wrongly dumped there? So if you have to transfer money, make a trip to the bank to do it. Banks nowadays open longer hours and some banks are even open on weekend. It would be safe for your money to do it by the bank people behind the counter. If they made mistake they could rectify it without much excuses while a mistake done by yourself from a ATM would be dependable on the other wrong account holder to release the money.

not as good as then
Usually holiday season would have blockbuster movies on cinema but this time the there don't seems to have much good show. Either they are monster shows or teeny shows. Even cartoons are 3d-ish. Chinese show are crappy too. Why? The usual remake of other shows or they lack plot or those usual looking for love type. Look like DVDs again. :|

down TV's memory lane
Had watch that Channel 8 station anniversary show. It was great to see all those oldies again. Children shows at that time was kind of more interesting than shows of today. Partly because then there is only one channel and we will watch anything on that channel. Now you have many channel to select so if you have this show now I can switch to another channel. I still find that the artists and shows of those days are still much better in term of storyline. And they stopped producing martial arts show now. So it is sure showing a weakness that we can't produce those type of shows anymore.

super slight change for a start
Local TV made a super slight improvement yesterday. At least to me is a super slight improvement. They invited a guest that is from a rival competitor for a talk show. Usually, the big boys would cut away any mention of their rivals and their artists. So it was a surprise to see a rivial station's artist on the show as a guest. Hopefully it will continue so. They could start with their magazines to feature the rival artists.

Yahoo needs backers?
So it seems Yahoo's Jerry Yang resigned as CEO, it would be a sign to MS to come take them in, for a price. Is going to MS being a life saver? It was to be a an advertising agreement with Google. However those anti competition groups with the gov had started to make noise. So it seems Google Yahoo is off for the moment. But is that what people want to see Yahoo becoming a MS section? Isn't what the gov have been hot on MS for their OS secrecy? Yahoo should just stay put. Their yahoo mail is good and so is their other areas. They just need tweakings.

tigers at no fault
Recently, the news of 2 tigers mauling a person to death. So what happened? The person was a worker or cleaning at the zoo. For some reasons he climbed into the tiger area and swam past the moat. So that's how he got killed. The keepers came at once when the alarm of someone being attacked by the 2 tigers came and distracted them with whatever they could find. Throwing pails and using the broom sticks to distract them. After this news, many people who are newspaper readers wrote in. The put in all kind of stupid and lame questions such as why the tigers should be put down. First of all, why the stupid brain of their would think itis the tiger's fault? Someone entered their lair so the tigers could go at the "intruder". Second these beasts have killer instincts. While the zoo tried to put barriers to stop people from entering, they are only deterance. If someone wants to climb they could. Some sensible readers point out, people jump on the tracks of the MRT. So is it the train driver fault? Next time these lame post start to appear on the papers trying to act smart questioning, the poster need a smack on their pea brain for wasting time and resources on their useless questioning.

DOS is still gold to me
25 years ago Nov 10 was the start of MS Windows version 1. Amazingly that was kind of the start of a GUI interface and multitasking environment running on a DOS. If you start using a PC from Windows 95 or 98 or XP, you have missed the golden era of PC evolution. While it may not be as multitasked and great sound and colors, but PC then were simple. You have enough RAMs your PC will be king. The games were simple and easy to run. Unlike games now, it is big, requires high performance hardware and you need to wait while it struggle to load. Does that mean DOS is no more? DOS still will be around. Certain tasks some people would still prefer DOS and for people who had tasted the DOS era, they most likely will use DOS for some of their troubleshooting tasks.

do you switch off?
Do you ever leave your computer on through the night when you sleep? Or leave it running when you were not using such as watching TV, having your meals or went out of the house? It seems most people do leave it on while not even using it. It is wasting of electricity. While these people eventually will have to pay for the usage, it just isn't right. Saving on electricity will mean save the environment too. In the current world of IT, some people leave it on so that it is doing some downloading everyday. But there are some just doing nothing. So did you have the habit of switching off your machines after use? If you don't have better start doing it.

increases of ships....
The media competition took some spots lately regarding some increasing of their "users". The survey done by a marketing company had revealed some increases. Somehow these media companies started to put out how they have gained and is better than the other. Somehow I find this a joke. Last I heard, this media company had some shareholding with this other media company. One does written publication containing news, information and advertising while the other do most on broadcasting both visual and audio. So why the apples do they start to show off? I don't see any competition at all. One holds the majority of newsprints while the other is given free. The news are very different. You get internationl, local, entertainment, investment etc. The free doesn't really have much to compete. Unless you like to read alot on world news, analysis. So how could a free print bag a top spot against a multitude of selections? Then the lack of competition for on-air broadcasting is no reason to boast. I have read more complains of repeating the same of programmes and noisy on the bus. Not everyone could afford to go pay for show so they have to put up with the same craps put for our eyes. There is no competition at all.

radio not good anymore
When people say radio just aren't good anymore, they are serious. This is the modern age where radio isn't the only source for music and informations. While radio do provide music news and other informations, so do those dozens of magazines on music and other craps. Radio just get too competitive and commercialized that you hear the same song over and over again and again. There used to be choices. Mainstream music to slow pop to those alternative classicals and techno dance. The dance was dropped. You know the reason. Claiming that most people prefer mainstream music. Now, radio just full of the same craps in a sense, this song is a hit, either world wide or it was good locally. They decided to pump that song on air every hour or so and the song turn into a bored music. DJs that talk too much, think they are funny to long winded commericals. Enough is enough. While I do have what left of selection some stations I still do tune in, they are not that good. Weak signals from those I like to listen and lousy noise (songs) from the other second best. I still have my CDs and cassettes. I am lazy to tap into those but online radio is different. I can choose what I want. So what is left for radio? None. MP3 and discman are afforable. Music are everywhere. Why listen to the same craps everyday? Not me.

MSN closing groups
MSN is closing yet another of their sub feature. They had closed MSN Chat. This time it is MSN Groups. What will be next? While I do think MSN Groups lack of any improvement that it doesn't matter that it will close. Limited space and inflexible for managing message board. But to those with a community built, this closing is very sudden. Moderators are given option to migrate to Multiply. So wonder how different it would be. And will all the pics get transfered over? I doubt it. Start frmo scratch. If that is the case, might as well try some other free community sites.

Return of REAL heavy metal?

With the anticipation of the new album from Guns N Roses, will it also bring back the classic sound of heavy metal? Most of the sound from the late 80s and 90s have been mixture of pops and heavy metal. Since boyband era, metal bands have all stopped new releases except a few like Bon Jovi and Metallica. However they just don't sound heavy as they were. They are just being loud. While it may not bring back bands that were no more in the businese, it would bring back interest to the music and may bring in new bands. Let's wait and see.

MS block competitor download link
Yes. Somehow MS IE feels the heat in the up coming browser war. It was a victory for IE when fought against Netscape. IE won for two reasons: IE was part of the OS which was Windows 98 and IE was also free for download for those without IE. Netscape on the other hand was not freeware. Right now, Firefox, Chrome, Safari and some others are the building blocks for another war. MS even redirect links from search engines that download browsers to their msn website. Are they that desperate to do that? Blocking links may not help them since there are mirror sites everywhere. IE better buck up or lose out.

finally for transport provider....
After all the complaints at bus transport providers, the news announced that PTC fined SBS and SMRT buses for not providing a good service such as late and packed bus. The fine of more than $10000, would be a sign given to commuters that despite all the fare increment, PTC is aware of the bad services and with the fine, signal that action will be taken against providers that take but does not give. But I rather they lower the fare. It would benefit the commuters instead.

fanbox block SG users.....
While not really a in-thing, Fanbox is one of those websites I joined. While most other sites would be open to all users, this one seems to block out sg users. Not sure why but they had the message that they are improving for sg users. It has been there like months. I don't see how they can't improve while users continue to use it. Hope they let users back in soon before they got the dump.

fake docu dramas just don't make it
Fake docudramas have been shown on local channels. It shows dinosaurs still roam the land and some were even kept by humans! It was like some ranch with some smaller dinos in captive. The show was shown on a channel where artistic programmes or documentaries are shown. So is this a documentary? I don't see how other then a serious tone of Jurassic Park. Then there is this show on how men has a spacecraft that managed to travelled to planets such as Venus and Mars and probably beyond! I didn't quite watched the whole show but the starting part was a turn off. It shows astronauts trains and prepared for space travel. The space craft is like a long orbiting space station. The name of this show is Space Odessy. It is just not true that men had managed to travel past the moon! Such news would amazing and it never happen. Such shows is really pointless. What would it be next? Aliens?

comics get more dramatic

I just finished reading DC comics' 52. It was like some of those dramas from the west with a not so great starting plot. The story ended with quite a bang. While mostly about good vs evil, I got my own conclusion - the heroes that serves justices did not do it fair and square. Justice was not served and was sidelined. I find that the victim, although is a villain - Black Adam, deserves justice against those that brought tragedy against his family, forcing him to kill and to destroy in order to force his enemies to confront him. It brought out the Justice Society who wanted to apprend him for those killings. These old gooders all wanted to bring Adam in for crimes but fail to bring in those that done crimes on Adam. They also fail to see to those that framed his family of the killing started by the Suicide Squad. Lastly, the whole community of Super beings failed to take out Black Adam. Justice is not longer sweet and it had in fact expired when oldies start to think they are still it when Superman and Batman went for vacation. After a clash of the super beings, Adam managed to slipped away. A loop that will lead to a new plot. My consolation - all those dramatic battles, Hal Jordan did not participate. I am glad he got left out. Reason is that many against one isn't honorable. Hal Jordan is the greatest Green Lantern and if he do join in, I am sure he would do the job better. Beside John and Guy, two other Green Lanterns got walopped with twenty or fifty other heroes. Hal got better things to do. Looking forward to see Black Adam coming back for vengence.

wheelchair friendly buses misleading
So now that after the fare increase, SBS still doesn't get the idea straight. This time round is their so call WAB (wheelchair—accessible buses) system that makes wheelchaired person unwelcomed. It was on the papers and even on the internet news. The disabled person on the wheelchair flags down those WAB buses but he isn't allowed to board. Given the explanations from SBS, the routes that the WAB buses plying was not WAB friendly. So why was the buses have that WAB sticker then? It was misleading. SBS reply was that is was for deployment issues. It is ok if WAB buses are being deployed on non-WAB routes. They should remove the sticker. With the fare increment and fines from fare cheats, such simple task of removing stickers should not be an issue. Let's hope now that the story being unleashed, SBS would wake up on such a simple task. It wouldn't take up much time and money to remove stickers.

F1 over
The F1 in Singapore was finally over. It was the first ever night race and Singapore became the first to host a night race. It was a record and watched by the world. I was not much of a race fan but it was quite a event to boost our country image. Hopefully this will be a yearly event and more could be improved such as the blockage and the chaos of the sea of people jamming the area. They could even use the road for some local racing. They shouldn't just let foreign events to use it but also allow local racer to use the track. It would be a welcome change for local racer to be able to race on a local track.

F1 fever
F1 fever is coming....! After watch people racing on a virtual city on arcade, this time it is reality. The F1 race will be running in Singapore. It will be a gathering of the speed demons! Disappointing that Michael Schumacher won't be joing in. He is a seven-time world champion. Hopfully this event will put Singapore up for future events.

china milk struck worldwide
The poisonous China milk had finally struck Singapore and worldwide are feeling the impact. How is that so? Because milk is being used as an ingredient for many food stuffs. If you think boycotting chinese product is safe, think again. Product made in another country could be also using imported china milk. Now if you order your coffee or teas or milo, think again if they are using those china milk..... There will always be black sheeps trying to clear their stocks.

sportman rewards
The recent olympic and Paralympic, our Singapore athletes brought back medals. However these medalist have recieves different amount of rewards. It was explained that the disabled athletes are able to compete in olympic, it should not be such big differences. These disabled are locally grew up. To get medals at the Paralympic is still world wide recognition and the rewards is to show our appreciations. To give them an amount to almost what our olympic heroes getting would mean we are serious in sports and all athletes that get medals should be treated equally.

China's poison stuff
China is always in the news again. Poisonous consumer food stuff. This isn't the first and I am sure it won't be the last. As always, some corrupted manufacturer sold some poison food stuff and cause some death. The recent case was the poison dumplings. Now for the first time, babies are the victim. It is time the Chinese government start to crack down on such bad businessmen. By not taking any touch action there will be no stopping of any future poisoning.

fare increase, again
Yes. Fare is increasing for public transport - buses and trains. Didn't they increased it some few months ago? Sure, since everything else is increasing but they should also improve their services. Their train and buses are still packed and waiting time is as long as 15 mins for buses and 5 mins for trains. Already there were unhappiness among some users. So far nothing was mentioned about improvment.

Google Chrome
On tuesday something rocked the web. Google unleashed their own browser that claims to be more faster than IE. It was agreed by majority of users who tried it. Named Chrome, or Google Chrome, it would be going against IE in this new browser war. IE won the first browser war against Netscape and it looks like another war is brewing. I haven't try Chrome yet due to some reported bugs. It is still Beta so I expect it to improve before I use it.

olympic hero finally
Finally our local olympic hero Tan Howe Liang got his reward for his contribution in the medals he got. He was given $10,000 cash award. The money certainly was long overdue. Does that mean that if no one got any medals for this olympic he won't get his award? He have done his country proud but the award took such a long time.

Parliment heroine
The parliment session usually doesn't much interest the normal people around but this time one incident prompted munch people to read about it. MP Lily Neo voiced out her questions by waving her papers. According to the article from ST, she was ignored by fellow MP/ministers. Ignored or probably had not noticed or rushing time, Dr Neo have to raise her voice and cut into the question answer session. It may raise some eyes on those who witness it but she raised some point in reflection on her residents. While she may get bad points from her political party, I would say her residents, or those poor people that got affected would be glad someone finally voiced it out. The ministers should answer those questions and not evade them with infos that was already known. Good job to Dr Neo.
Someone upload the article. You can read it here.

local heroes get the boots
The olympic was over. But there is another happening in singapore. The tabletennis team that got a silver return home as heroes. However, their manager and head coach got the boot. The president of the tabletennis club, whatever they name it, gave lame reason. Their contract was not renewed and will be expired. So with manager and coach that led the team to a silver, doesn't that makes them "legend"? The world knows that she was furious over the tabletennis guy that lost because there was no coach on site. The coach that assigned was delayed by another match. For that reason she start booting. If such a mistake deserve the boot, mdm president and all those high post people should start getting boots. Spectulation was that Ms president doesn't see eye to eye but we doesn't care as long they got the medal. So what is next? This will always be a local olympic chapter forever, if you led a team to medals, expect the boot if you don't please mdm president.

Medals in Olympics at last
At last Singapore got medals. The table tennis team managed to best Korean team to get the silver. While it was a good change, it prompted some questions. The players are not Singapore born. They came from else where. If you look at most sports in Singapore, most of their players are FT. So there won't be much straight answers from anywhere else. However be grateful that these talents are doing Singapore proud and at the same time earning their name forever in the Olympic records. Hopefully Singapore should show them support for what they have done should the day for them unable to compete.

Olympic fakes
The recent Olympic opening was quite good but soon some bad news started to pour in. It was revealed that what we saw on TV, the fireworks are fakes. Most of it on TV are computerised images. So what if we see less of it? Putting fakes on TV just don't seem right. While people are talking about it, next came the news that the little girl that sang was lip sync. It was said that because the girl whose voice was used because she wasn't cute. So what if she isn't cute? Does that make lip sync a better excuse? These girls are innocent yet the adults put them in such bad position. Imagine when they grew up some people uses these news at them? I doubt if the world watching would care if the singing girl is cute. It just isn't right.

Transformer 2007 movie

Shia LaBeouf's character is irritating. Megan Fox's character is kind of unnecessary. So is it because the lack of babes in the show? Overall the action is good. For once secret government projects are scrapped. Usually they remains in shows like these. Whatever happened to Starscream? Perhaps I missed it. The commandos seems like super soldiers. Rubbles raining all over except them. I am sure it isn't over for the All Spark. Prime mentioned Cybertron gone, I doubt so. I am ready for Galvatron. Who else is ruthless next in line after Megatron? Starscream just doesn't make it. He is only cunning.
DS9
I finally managed to finish the whole DVD series of Star Trek Deep Space Nine. It is a good show. But I would still prefer The Next Generation and Voyager. They have more action episodes while DS9 contain many episodes on characters interactions. Many of these bored me to sleep. It is true, I slept through most of these. Maybe I was tired but watching those space battle episodes are different. Anyway the show is ok. They have some funny characters such as Quark. He is the bartender that always seems to be the joker instead.

bio-degradable USB disk
If you haven't read about it, a Hong Kong base company Hoshino released the world first bio-degradable USB disk. It is suppose to be eco-friendly. The picture attached doesn't show much on it but I assume the connector is metal like all USB connectors. What would the differences between a normal USB and this bio-degradable type? The cost. If it is more costly, it certainly won't get anyone to buy it. For me, I would care if the price is higher cost than a normal USB disk. It takes years to bio-degrade but I doubt the lifespan will take that long. Once it stopped working I will dump it to trash. So all is taken care of. I don't need it to bio-degrade if I disposed of it properly.

Rick Astley performs
The recent Singfest feature some international artists performing. Most of them is kind of out of my time. The style of music have changed through the years that I don't quite listen to them much. However this year's Singfest include 80's icon Rick Astley. Most youngsters may not know who Rick is but he is one of 80's chart topper. Like most other 80s artists they kind of vanished but will come back for some performances. Regardless who is performing, the audiences should give them the respect. They may not be your favourite but they are the guys that perform for you. I am glad Rick Astley is still doing music. Hope to see Jason Donavan next.

Absurd patent case?
It seems to have died down. When months ago a company claiming to be a Singapore company started sending letters to webmasters of local websites demanding payment for the image linking codes they use. Quite absurd too and it shocked the WWW world. They smell fishy from day one when such code are freely in use and these fishes out of no where start to ask for payment and claimed that they own the codes. This fish even hide under as a Singapore company when they are registered in Australia. So if they think people are stupid to believe it is a Singapore company, we could easily find out who they really from. Most people think it is a replay of the Odex case. These people only knows to use lawyer letters to frighten people. In this case, it is even absurd to have someone asking for payment on a common internet language code that is in use by everyone in the world. So what will be next? Someone asking to pay up for JPG files?

new search engine
A new challenger for Google. Google is the No.1 search engine on the internet followed by Yahoo. Now a new engine name Cuil is claiming to be biggest, smartest and fastest. Not everyone can have the claim easily without the world casting doubts. This is because the company is being run by former star engineers from Google. So now with such star powers from a newcomer, what would Microsoft do now that they have another competitor.

strange air violence
Air violence on a UK plane. And the culprits are two women on a drunken rampage. So don't the plane have air marshals? If they have it in US planes what about planes of other brands? One woman was reported using a vodka bottle as a weapon trying to club air cabin staff. Imagine them being men.... it would be worst. If there are stationed security staff they would be able to handle the women easily. Tough luck for the two women.

music label start fanbase
Alantic Records starts a fanbase online so that the fans could connect to their favourite artists when they use their computer. So this is similar to youtube or those other video sites where you could watch the music videos. The difference is that watching from the label's fanbase is official. It is something like an official fan site I guess. How would it be taking off would be early to say but it might work if they have enough artists to do it. Not for me. My favourite artist isn't from this label so it isn't for me.

odex team with mediacorp
Odex, after the incident that left in its wake a fumming anime community here now is back teaming with mediacorp. Aren't they always been showing their shows on mediacorp all the time? I guess too long out of the news they want to get some publicity. So does that mean people will still buy odex stuff? I doubt so. The recent comic convention I saw the odex booth basically no people inside. Maybe one or two kids but that is it. Beside their booth is quite empty. So now they hope people will subcribe to mediacorp's pay tv to watch those odex shows? I wonder how many will really do it? I can see that all over local forums people are still not forgiving them.

Local studio shove creativities down the drain
National Day is coming. TV is now blasting us the ads for NDP. As usual but this time, they got in the headlines, for the wrong reasons. Someone spotted something about the ads and post on websites and also sent to newspapers. The ads have been seen as copy cats from other ads owned by other companies. Even though those other ads copied were foreign and never being shown on local TV, the likes of Youtube on the broadband age let everyone to anyone to watch almost anything. The local studio that creates the clips fail to provide originality and creative at all. Some says you get what you pay for peanuts. Others say they waste tax payer money producing such cheap products. Does the similarity on these ads pave way for any copyrights issue, even if the ads were changed? It could since ordinary people could see them so similar. The creator did not change enough. And the reply from those in-charge just put aside the issue. There goes for respect of others creative rights and properties.

Last match isn't last at all
The National Stadium is the icon where Singaporean knows. Many sport events, especially soccer and National Day celebrations held there. I myself was there as a student and during my national service to do my part for the event. So now they are going to tear down the building to make way for something else, I believe the new MRT line. The authority had given its last match at the stadium. Then here is the twist - the last match then wasn't last. They have another match with some oversea team. I remember some people complained and wrote to Straits Times on what the last match they paid dearly turned into not exactly last. So from the announced last match then till now, there was a few matches. And now another one. So as long as the stadium still stands, don't ever believe that is the last match. It ain't over till its over. Too much last match just doesn't make anyone to believe anymore.

Superman Return so so only
I have just watch the show Superman Return. I would say it is nothing impressive. Instead the starting part is draggy and makes me sleepy. Why is it so? The start is full of talks and no action. Superman is suppose to battle some super villains. There you have him saving people from accidents, disasters and robberies. I give it the worst since Christopher Reeves' Superman. At least in Superman 2 and Superman 4, you have Superman battles evil Kryptonians (yes, Superman is not the only Kryptonian left) and Nuclear Man. While these villains are cheesy, they gave Superman a run of his muscles. The new Superman Return have a equally lousy ending. So in the end he save the day as usual. But the plot and story is a turn off. I rather pick up a copy of Superman comic. At least you get to see him start knocking costume villains instead of talk and no action. I am not looking forward a sequel. Until WB start to do it right, it is better for them to use the fund on some other show.

Happy ending yet?
In the latest happening, Mr Icahn managed to make a truce with Yahoo. He and three of his recommended candidates will have a seat on the board. Analysts gave their view as the best result Icahn can have. If he go along with Microsoft trying to have a proxy fight, he might not win and maybe dummped by the software giant in the losing battle, if such event do happen. Now that their differences aside, it remains to be seen if Yahoo and Icahn can really hold hands and happily ever after continues on. And what will be the Google deal? Hopefully, in the long run, Yahoo will remains what it is, without anyone trying to force a sales here and there. They have the right to go for what is best.

Best damn Transformers book!

If you are a hardcore transformers fan, you should get yourself a copy of The Ark vol. 2! Why is that so? Because this book showcase the Japanese characters in their animated cel. You don't see many books dealing with Japanese Transformers do you? Even if you do, they are mostly drawn for it. This book shows you the cel, what you see on TV is what is on the book. Better rush down to your comic shop before they sold out!

charity mismanagement fisco
So here it is, after the NKF saga now they are doing it to Ren Ci. But then you can't compare NKF to Ren Ci. NKF have all these donation shows on TV. Mr Durai, the person behind the saga was a businessman doing nothing but to suck in cash from the outside world. He is the monster then. But the Ren Ci saga is different. The man of the saga is Venerable Ming Yi. He is a monk by the way. So why is a monk in charge of money mismanagment? Being a monk shouldn't even be in charge of any decision making. So is he a monster? I don't think so. He perform stunts on the donation show, which is much less on TV than NKF. He did his part to get donations. Now due to the stooges around him messed up, Ming Yi and his merry men, so far only two persons, being brought to court. Hopefully people should remember the good deed he have been doing before decide on his future.

Irritating advertistment next
Sometimes now, that Starhub advertistment hasn't been shown. Probably the Starhub promotion is over. That is still no excuse to be flooding our screen with it. Right now, I get to see this Raintree ad quite a lot. Althought not as floody as that Starhub ad, this Raintree ad is as irritating too. Because it is long winded, and I guess their aim is to make people take note of their achievment. They have achieved, to make notice them as much an annoyance on TV. It is draggy and the soundtrack is loud. With no competitors around, and a backing by the only monopolised media company, they are it. No need to show off the stuffs through the years.

crowded street
It was a rare moment I get to walk on the street around Raffle Place during noon. The place was over crowded with people. Also crowded with constructions. Must be the ERP that causes everyone to abandon their cars. So now the problem spreads to the public transport like buses and MRT. Every MRT that arrives are packed to the door. Same with the buses and buses are as usual slower to arrive. Now they even intend to adjust the bus fare due to the rising cost of fuel. So if that is the case whay is there continue the sales of cars? You stop people to use their cars but offer cars for sale. That is crazy man.

Yahoo rejects another MS bid
Carl Icahn have hold hands with Microsoft to try to get Yahoo to sell part of itself to Microsoft again. Also Mr Icahn will replace the Yahoo executives with his own fans, including Yahoo's co-founder Jerry Yang. Yahoo rejects the deal. The google deal would be less risky than Microsoft's. I am glad Yahoo remains out of Microsoft's hands. While the numbers doesn't quite reflect positive on Yahoo, I still uses their search engine and applications whenever possible. Somethings just doesn't work when they are part of Microsoft.

Talk to your cat
I saw this book at the big bookstore at Vivocity today. Kind of interesting. Gave you some facts and some interesting stories about cats. It even have a small section on how to know what your cat is thinking. While we all hear meow all the time, if you listen carefully, the meows sound different. The author even have a small table on what the cat speaks. It also have a story on ghost cat. So now we know cat have ghost. Creepy.

iPhone Problems
The recent launch of the new Apple iPhones was widely anticipated by consumers. However probably due to a mass activation process, most of the phones are unable to be activated. The new phone comes with 3G and requires the telco to activate the phone before you can use. Something like registering your Windows XP with the software code on the sticker that stuck on your computer. So with more than thousands of registrations at the same time, I am not surprise the network will be unable to take it. As usual the blame game is there. Some Apple employees claims the telco involved was the cause while the telco claims the problem started at Apple. So does that mean getting the older model of iPhone will be safe? No. The older model was affected too since it uses the same way to register. The best solution is to wait until the craze for iPhone died off. Else you just purchased a useless phone that you are unable to use and the parties involved can't or won't do anything further to help you.

Cap vs Cap
Yes you have seen it. Marvel finally released a Captain America vs Captain America. After all in comics, we get to see heroes fighting their own self. It can't be possible right? In real world, no. In a comic storyline, it happened many many times. For this case, one of them isn't the original Captain America. Which means, Captain America isn't fighting himself, but rather fighting someone assuming him. So what is so excited about it? This exciting part, is that currently, Steve Roger, Captain America's real name, was supposed to be dead, critically injured and locked up. In which ever case, there was a funeral issue few months back. So he was dead. Is he back then? Go buy the comic and read.

prorgamming woes
Ever learnt to do programmings? I have tried many programming languages from the DOS days to present. The likes of Basic, Turbo Pascal, Cobol, Batch commands to present day AutoIT, Visual Basic. Now I have one more language to add, Applescript. Yes I do use the Apple computer system and their Applescript is good but there is a flaw. Not on the software but the usage. They have the online guides but the guides are useless. I have been struggling with the text field and search on the internet I haven't found any solutions yet. Anyway I shan't waste time on it. Maybe one day I might know the secret in usage but right now I am moving on. To another language? No. I am going to create some applications with Applescript - without the useless text field and check boxes and other hard to use craps....
water safety
As the recent accident in the water sport, it was strange that there is no proper SOP on water safety. SOP is Standard Operating Procedure. So let say if you are a non swimming and you need to be involved in activity at a water area that you cannot stand in it, wouldn't it be dangerous if you ever be in the water? Now that the event had happened and even led to a death, people starts to question and parties involved keep giving the no comment reply. It is time the authority should put down some rules on water safety. Even if you are a swimmer doesn't makes you safe.

Solar System is not round
Most of us would know that the Solar System is round, in a sense the Sun is the center while the planets and other objects rotates around the Sun in a circular orbit. Well, at least until now some reports that according to two spacecrafts travelling far away in deep space, reports that the Solar System is not round. So what is the reason? I am unable to explain it since I am only an novice astronomer. You could try your luck at space.com where you get to read reports and hopefully answers that are simple to understand.

Dialet speaking shows
Some local productions have dialet speaking dialogs. So does that mean authority on media have relax on languages involving dialets? Mandarin was the key language aim to merge everyone when communicating. But the elderly have problem speaking Mandarin. Now that movie can have some part of dialets why not allow cantonese dramas? Perhaps we have not reach that stage yet. They could allow dual sound like those Japanese and Korean shows. Don't think they will do it because everyone will switch to listen to the dialet portion. So it seems it will be a longer way to go for dialet TV.

TV repeats
So having watched Lord of the Rings on three Saturdays, Mediacorp is going to show more long hours repeated shows. Troy, King Arthur, Alexander the Great. They have been shown before on TV now we are being fed the repeated shows again. The show will dragged long hours including long winded advertistments. Miss the days when Mediaworks was still in operation. There were competition and each will put on good shows instead of repeats.

Selfish travellers
A recent letter to a newspaper wanted to make it able to penalised people who do not give up their seats. Such a thought is selfish. So what makes them the right to have the seat? The basic rule is the first come first "sit" logic. So if you can't get a seat be grateful you get to stand - comfortablely. Meaning the train is not packed that you have to be standing body to body. So if you are sick or pregnant you should be taking a taxi instead to ensure you get to sit. Everyone pays the same fare and everyone have a chance to grab seats everytime someone alights. Do not complain if you can't get one. It is not a criminal offense. Other then the lack of moral value, no one is harmed. You put yourself in harm's way when knowing you have difficulity travelling standing. Such people are the selfish complain bums that get rebuked from netizens when they complains to stomp website.

Fare cheats fined. What about lousy service providers?
So officially anyone caught cheating their transport provider will be fined or jailed. So it is a universal fact that if you don't go with the rules you will pay for it. While everyone agrees about that fact, what about the fact that these providers are not doing their part to improve? All we get to hear or read when someone complains, about their silent treatment to feedbacks about bad services, will only recieve a generic reply that they will blah blah blah the same usual nonsense about looking into it or improve it but will take time. As usual some will provide facts and figures, that who would care about it when the real world faced by gruntle people don't match the facts. So when passengers get overcharged, they are penalised by taking time off to go to some far away ulu location to claim their money, only which they pay more to travel there. Bus drivers late or buses are always packed because they only have one to go around. Slow buses, trains as well drivers bullies students without any apologies. All these are always in the news and forum. And I can see that fare increment is coming in the near future........ again.
Facing a DJ
Unexpectedly, I got to meet with Suzanne Walker. Yes, she is the DJ. I was suppose to fix her password problem on the computer. She is the same chirpy person like you heard on radio. Somehow while they are good at spinning the turn tables or the CD racks, they kind of stuck with a computer. I believe it would be the same to everyone else. Not everyone is multi skilled. Give me a turn table I might make it turn if I am lucky. And no, I don't mean making the table turn. So I wonder if I would have luck to meet other DJs. :-)

Mac OS on a Lenovo
I could install Mac OS on a intel based Lenovo notebook. While it wasn't easy, it was nice to be able to use a Macintosh platform from a PC based notebook. It isn't 100% Apple but 65% you can experience it like you are using a real Apple computer. Some issue encountered was unable to bootup without disc which was resolved. The other problem is unable to use ethernet, wireless and unable to set graphic setting. It seems Mac OS doesn't have 3rd party drivers for networking devices and graphic card too. The graphic problem isn't much a problem as I can view the screen with ease, it just isn't at the best quality. I can't connect to network or surf the net as it doesn't work with the on board network devices. Until I could find a mac driver or update something, this Mac operating notebook will be a standalone.

Irritating advertistment
Do you ever get fustrated by some advertistment on TV? I do. Especially that Starhub ad that keeps on showing on TV everytime. So what is about the ad? It is irritating, the dog thing and the music. What has it got to do with mobile and TV? Whatever the reason, I don't use any starhub product or service and for now it is the worst ads I think so.

MS vs Mac
If you don't know what is MS, it means Microsoft. Not Miss. Mac is Macintosh, not big mac. These two groups are always being compared their products against each other. It is like comparing orange and apple. While both of them started early during the early days of computers, both went through a different route. We all know MS more than Mac. Everyone seems to own a computer running MS Windows. I would say, it was the price and avaliablity in the market that gave MS the popularity. We can only use Mac OS on a Apple branded computer. There isn't any other brands that produce Apple. MS doesn't produce any computers, but their OS could support all kind of brands including the OEM market. Also their price is cheaper depending on the brand and product.

local security standard dropping
First there was the escape of a local terrorist. Then attempted escape of two convicts. Now a report of someone using another person's passport to leave Singapore. So the local security is losing it? And all these happens during the first six months. Could it be that the officers doing the security must be thinking that nothing will happen on their shift? I am sure while security is still secure enough but there will still be others trying their luck to see if they could get past. Meanwhile I am sure heads continue to roll for the latest lapse.

ymail.com
I tried to sign up a new ymail account. Surprised that I could still get one with a username I wanted without those numbers. Many have complained on forums that they couldn't get their own unique names. So why should I use another yahoo mail since I have rocketmail? Rocketmail is a classic and I am keeping it in case they close it again. Ymail can be use and if it get spammed it doesn't matter you can let it go.

new mail domain from yahoo
Yahoo is wooing new users with a new Ymail and re-opening their existing Rocketmail. Rocketmail was bought by Yahoo to battle with hotmail during the early days of internet. Ymail will gives user a fresh grab of personal usernames. Rocketmail will give users back a bite of internet history. Will this move actually help yahoo? It might improve during the early run. Whatever the results, I still have my rocketmail from 10years ago!

Joe's back!
Joe Augustin is back on radio! He re join Power98. Glad he is still needed. Being back to Power98 is much better than any of those other stations belonging to that big company. They plays advertistments for 10mins and DJs tries to be funny when they are irritates. But for now, I haven't been listening to any radio. Can't listen at work.

Got a bargain
Visited the PC Show. Usually the "bargains" are just so so. However one bargain that made me spend is the Lenovo notebook sold by Challenger is a good grab. Just $999 comes with Vista Home Prienum and 3GB ram. At least since I don't have an up to date notebook, this one is a good oppertunity to upgrade at a price of 1k minus $1.

DVD Review

A ghost movie? At least that was what the movie when it first released claimed. It also warns pregnant moms not to watch. Because the story is about ghost haunting the mums. Interesting show with a mix of Singaporean actors and scenes. However there isn't much scary ghost in there. All in the mind and just creepness.

Haikel join 91.3
In the news, Sheikh Haikel joined 91.3 as the replacement of the DJs that left. He will team up with Suzanne Walker. It seem to me that the management of 91.3 wanted to move up the spot from #7 against the other stations. I have no doubt Suzanne is a good host. However to move up the spot does not depend on the DJs. It is the management. You change all your DJs but still play only the crap music on air, it attracts no one to listen. So is 91.3 moving forward? Not forward but backwards the moment they start terminating DJs as scrapgoats for not moving up the spots.
DVD Review

This is a terrible show.... Too much distractions and confusion in the ghost zone. I couldn't continue to watch it as it is boring and a waste of my time.... Can't remember the review then but I assume it got great review because of its local connection..... I just watch the whole show. The ending is crapped. I considered it as no ending.

Icahn vs Yahoo
Icahn trying to get Yahoo to sell itself to Microsoft. So what will happen if it does happen? Lay off. Yahoo is trying to protect its own people and now Mr Icahn think that is wrong. While he doesn't say that, he wants Yahoo be under Microsoft's weight. If that does happens, be sure Yahoo mail be gone in the long run. All its feature eroded and copied into hotmail. The unlimited storage could be gone too. Yahoo would be better off fending itself, working together with google woule be better than MS. Google is better than MS in the internet world. Yahoo is also better so it is a matter of Google vs Yahoo. But if Yahoo is out and swallowed by MS, it would be a sad day for the www world.

91.3 FM revamp - AGAIN?!
If you read mypaper today, they have the news article, 91.3 revamp. So how many re-vamps are they going to do every few years? Now I know if you are reading this, you probably am listening to mediacorp radios. No I don't quite like them ever since they evolved from the 90s. 91.3 formerly a full brand under NTUC. They played pure techno music which most other english stations avoided. They were unique then. Released 2 music compliation that even top the sales chart locally. Then Mediaworks happened and they became WKRZ. Now they started going downhill. The first revamp and rebrand. They lost a lot of listeners because they played less techno music. Next they did another revamp, during which techno music only play at night 8pm to 12am. The last straw when WKRZ got revamped yet again into RADIO 91.3. They bumped all traces of techno from air. Dumped long time station techno DJs Jensen, Jason, Rico. They lost all the techno listeners. Sure they got in some legends from the radio scene. Joe, Petrina, Hubert, Denise. Together with their current DJs Marilyn, Suzanne, Jane. A fresh relaunch with a brand new name. While it was good to hear from some familar voices, the music selection are not great. The plays the same kind of music played on those other stations. And also their reception signal was bad. Later another revamp, calling themselves the "NEW" 91.3. Stupid. Whoever is the management. Why is it even new? Because departure of some DJs and entry of others? Sure but radio is about music. No changes to the music. Now they even started to fires DJs because management don't like what they do on the show. And no they didn't do any shock jocks stuffs. They just got fired. Joe Augustin got fired after Patrina resigned. So this is the way they show their DJs. It doesn't seems respectful to a senior DJ around. And Jamie Meldrum, the DJ and programming director claims some lame reason when termination letter handed over, fired mean fired. He is a nobody here, while considered someone great elsewhere, I never like him when he talks on air. Makes DJ Digby Taylor sweeter then him. So by firing Joe, they chased away many loyal listeners. It surely won't bring up the station to beat the rest. It will remain at #7 or dropped further. If it is a revamp, remove the current management. This station has nothing unique, weak signals and music that doesn't fits my taste. I am listening to 1003. Maybe to power98.

watch out scammers
Read it from the papers. Past months, I have witness some teenagers approaching passer-bys to sell them paperclips. I overheard them trying to sell the clips or clip for big buck ($10). Sound absurd but you never know someone would pay for it maybe at a lower price. I saw them around Tiong Bahru Plaza and also outside Central National Library. Today in Mypaper, a report that these teens are selling them not for their projects in school. Some would consider them cheats or scammers, because they pay for the clips knowing the money would help them excel in school and not for other stuffs. Beware of the teen clips sellers!

DVD review

This show is just a normal shoot and blow up show. Not much people killed except for the bad guys. A weak plot. WWE star John Cena can make it. He should try another flim. One funny scene, when bad guy Robert Patrick was told by his goon that they are being chased by a guy that seem like the Terminator. Robert Patrick was a Terminator from Terminator 2. His expression was kind of cheeky.

Bookfair
Just went to the Bookfair at Suntec. Smaller as compared with prievous years. Most of the local vendors there are selling assessment books. Bookfair vendors are still trying to burden childrens with assessments. This time I don't see much comics on sale. The english type. I found some Archies, thats it. I don't even see MPH setting a stall there. So boring. In term of books, the chinese language books are more variety. English stalls are no good. Some of them seems to come from those Bras Besar Complex stores. The rest are hawking their multimedia stuffs. How is IT wares being tie to books?

Supernova in space
A supernova was captured by scientists observing some stars. A supernova is an explosion of a star. While not really able to watch the star explode, it was the x-rays given out that gave clues of an explosion. The star belongs to a distant galaxy NGC2770. A miracle we could even peek out that far into the void. If you are interested in this article here is the link. http://edition.cnn.com/2008/TECH/space/05/21/star.explosion.ap/index.html#cnnSTCText

Probe lands on Mars
NASA's Phoenix spacecraft have landed on Mars in search for life. After the Mars rovers now they sent another probe to Mars. While Mars is as good as any other worlds in space for exploration, I think NASA should be doing more than sending probes after probes. In my opinion, Martian life doesn't seems to exist like those superior monsters found in books and flims. When will they spend more on trying to get men into space? As far as I think, sending of probes belongs to the 70s and 80s. It is time to have something that we always see in movies like Star Trek, where space travel is like taking a cruise.

An article that Toyota in Japan only raise their OT pay when an overworked staff died. So it seems someone have to die to get the attention of the people. Is the competition so bad that there is no time for rest? It just isn't worth it. You earn all the OT pay and you don't have the health to enjoy them.

MS re-enter talks with Yahoo
MS is back with the Yahoo bid. According to CNET news, MS have no intention to buy up the whole Yahoo. Just partial of it. So if it does happen, depending of what they are buying could make of break Yahoo or MS or even both. Most like MS will be eyeing of their search engine.

Olympic madness
The super question like everyone else on the recent Olympic torch passing, why isn't it passing through to Singapore? The route from Kuala Lumpur to Jakarta, why can't they pass through Singapore since Singapore lies right in the middle of the route? Here is a reply on May 2nd of the Straits Times forum section. The reply explains that Beijing Organising Committee decides on the route. Seems to me some elements of unfairness occurs here. Isn't it common sense to let the torch pass through Singapore to Jakarta? With Singapore fully support China and the Olympic games it is BS with whatever reasons to leave out Singapore. Is it because no one willing to run from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore or not willing to put in cost for the plane to fly here? I guess the readers will be the judge for this.
