It finally spells the end of local entertainment magazines in Singapore. The last one, the Uweekly magazine, #986 is the last issue. During the early days, there were many magazines on entertainment but not many that focus on our local TV scene. When Mediacorp dropped their 8 Days magazine, Uweekly is the only one left. While print magazine is getting less readers, local entertainment should have readers as the local TV is getting a lot of news of our own entertainment scene. Plus they include news from regional chinese entertainment, there are enough news to put out a magazine. Not everyone can do internet for news, so this is sad news for us.

The countdown for 91.3FM The Greatest Hits of All Time 80s Edition is over. Take On Me - A-Ha finally takes the no. 1 spot after a few years in the top 3 position. Congratulation that to A-Ha!! While this maybe a small chart from a local radio station located in Asia and is not as recognizable as the Billboard or UK charts, it is still good to get your favorite band on the airwave. Just watched the movie Transformers One. The movie about the origin of the Transformers. If you have read enough transformers stories through the years, there are many versions. This is a version that have Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg involves in the movie. The story is kind of a we know what will happen type of show. I would still prefer the Generation One cartoon version. So which version you prefer?

The Greatest Hits of All Time for 91.3FM is back. This time it is the 80s era's greatest classics. There are hits and misses. Not everyone's favorites are here for voting. Currently there is a new game from a chinese developer, Game Science. They release the game, Black Myth: Wukong. This game is currently number 1 in the top seller list in the Steam platform. However, most players will need to fork out more then just the cost of the game software. This game needs a powerful computer with a good graphic card. It's rich graphic requires a high end gaming machine that can process all the graphics. So the game actually brings in sales for computer sellers. Some players will even play the game at the internet cafe or LAN gaming shops. So are you going for the game?

Epic Game store is currently offering 2 free games this week. The Gigantic Rampage and The Callisto Protocol. The Gigantic Rampage is some kind of shooting game that is kind of fun. For serious gamers that goes for FPS and in some kind of Half Life environment settings, The Callisto Protocol should suits you. Battles Zombies on board a space station. Go grab them before they are gone.

Comic fans, you probably am familiar with the X-Men, the comic version or the movie version. If you do you should watch Deadpool & Wolverine. Non fans, watch it for the humor and the entertainment. This show is well done, despite Disney current condition in their way of movie making. This should probably be a one time thing where fans gets what they wanted. There are tons of mention and cameo of characters, events, stars. Watch it for the fun.

Just finished with the series, Star Trek Picard. For trek fans, this series is a bit slow pace. As compared with the other newer series, this one sticks with the same universe as all of the older treks that we know. The TNG casts made an appearance at the end that. The shows ended with a new ship, put a possibility of a new series, if they want. I am sure the trek audiences would want it.  

A-Ha will release their album Time and Again: The Ultimate A-Ha on vinyl for the first time! It is a 2 disc album where you get to play it on your vinyl player. This album is the same at the CD version, released in 2016. Get your copy on 9-Aug-2024 onwards at your favorite music store!

Recently the internet news on the new 2025 Superman comes with a possible Ultraman as the villain. In the comics, Ultraman is a Superman type character from a different alternate Earth named Earth 3. He usually comes with the Crime Syndicate, their version of the Justice League. The Crime Syndicate comes with Ultraman as Leader, Owlman, Johnny Quick, Power Ring and Super-Woman. They are the alternate versions of Superman, Batman, Flash, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman. In the image, it is stated that the character, with a U symbol on the chest is Ultraman. The costume is wrong, at least to compare with the comic version. Actually, so is Superman, unless this is the Kingdom Come's younger version of Superman. Which means, the lady at the side could be Super-Woman. Should that be the case, with the number of characters planned to appear in this movie, could mean they will be battling the Crime Syndicate, or at least 2 of the members. Should that do happen, the movie will either end badly, as in the story sucks, or end badly as in the good guys got trashed for good. The Crime Syndicate is Justice League level villains. You will need at least the real Justice League to be on the same level as them. Super-Woman is as female version of Superman. The Green Lantern in the show may level the playing field but, this Green Lantern is not Hal Jordan or John Stewart. Guy Gardner, in the comics is a arrogant and childish personality and may not be up to a fight with the villains here. The other characters are not of super power characters and will not be a match in term of raw strength. So do we get surprise appearance of characters to battle these villains or the bad ending is meant for a movie sequel?

Do you know ICQ? Or have you been through the ICQ years? ICQ is the first instant messenger, before MSN and Yahoo messenger. ICQ is supposed to mean I seek you. ICQ was developed by a company Mirabilis. It was later bought over by AOL and others before ending up with VK, the current owner. As the usage for IM is getting less as most users moved to mobile using Whatsapp or other messaging apps. For users that had an account on ICQ, they probably not expecting this item to be still active online. I tried to login to my ICQ, the ICQ app does not seems to respond and unable to switch to English. They have the web version and it works fine. I could login and saw that my contacts are left with 2 users and they haven't been active for a long time. Guess with the decline of IM usage now, it is coming to an end. Hopefully, it will be back in some form again in future. Visit ICQ while it last.

For Terminator fans, Netflix will have the Terminator Zero, an anime based on the Terminator franchise. Right now, if the image is what will be from the show, it would probable be focus on the Terminator 1 years. The last recent Terminator shows have been quite bad in term of storyline. Hopefully, a animation can do it the right direction, for the fans. Terminator Zero, should be premiering from Netflix on 29 August, 2024.

The Transformers: 40th Anniversary Event

The Transformers: 40th Anniversary Event is here in Singapore, selected Shaw cinemas. This is a showing of the first 4 episodes of the Transformers Generation One series, More Than Meets the Eye, Part 1 to 4. These 4 episodes tells of how the Transformers arrives on Earth with their on-going battle. It also introduce their human allies characters, Spike and Sparkplug. This is the show that started it all and no other shows of the series can match it. If you are a fan that been through the early years, you may want to catch it and relive the hype. If you are a new fan, watch it too and feel it in cinema with other fans. Catch it in Shaw cinemas.

One of Singapore's last magazine shop is closing on 5-May-2024. Thambi Magazine Store at Holland Village, they have been around for 80 years. They have been through the years where readers go there for their dose of magazines. Today, how many of us still read magazines? Or the physical magazines? The magazine selections are filled the whole wall and the other side, shelf. News of their closure brought along mass of people to visit and also to purchase into a memory that will be gone. I am one of them. There is nothing much left on the shelf except for some out dated magazines or titles that doesn't interest you. Nevertheless, am happy they get to clear much of their stock before closing.

James Gunn, the number one person in the DC studio, have posted a picture Green Lantern's power ring in Green Lantern's arm shown in a fist. Is Gunn sharing a message to fans or it is just a image for sharing? Currently, there are Green Lantern projects in the making. Guy Gardner will be in the new Superman movie. The TV series will have Hal Jordan and John Stewart as the main characters while other corps members will make appearances. Hopefully it wouldn't be a long wait for Green Lantern fans, waiting for a proper live action Green Lantern show. As a Green Lantern fan, I am glad Hal Jordan will be the main character of the TV series.

 

When Kamen Riders first appears on TV, the show was simple yet serious story. As the franchise evolves, it gets modernized and in the latest movie, it seems that the show has become kind of a children show. I have just watched the latest movie, it kinds of not what I expected. The main characters are young persons, teenagers. They would shout and trying to be humorous. All the while there are some slight humor from the early series but this is a bit different. Totally for kids. Maybe I should continue from OOO to see all the changes slowly. But overall is not really my type of Kamen Rider. And the cinema hall is quite empty when I watched it. They should have more showtime for 555, the previous rider movie. It was full house.

Masked Rider 555: Paradise Regained, the movie was shown on local cinema Golden Village during the weekend. Many fans goes for the show. Mostly the older fans that grew with this series some 20 years ago. I have watched the movie and now I know some of the changes they made to it. I am not giving any spoilers here. You get new Rider, cameo rider, new characters, twist in characters. Overall, it is a show good enough for the 555 fans. With this, I am looking forward more movies for this series. If the new series have multiple movies, they should put out more for 555, since there are enough audiences for it. I feel these classic riders are for the mature audiences and they do not have those young characters type that makes the show feel like a children show. Lastly, the movie comes with free Autographed posters.

Masked Rider 555: Paradise Regained

Masked Rider 555: Paradise Regained, is the new movie for the Masked Rider 555 series. The original actors are back in their role as Faiz and Kaixa. The title of the movie sounds like a continuation of the last 555 movie, Paradise Lost. Not much from the review is known. We can only assume that this is a new refreshed story. Kento Handa, Kōhei Murakami and Yuria Haga returns as the original casts. A different story and to expects brand new riders. Masked Rider 555 Paradise Regained coming to cinema near you.

The best free antivirus for 2024, depends on individual. Here, I will go with PC World's selection. I am familiar with the PC World brand and they have their own 4 antivirus products. I do not use them, being as a advance user. For the basic home user, these products have been around for a long time and will do the job on your windows PC. Batman characters / casts reunite for some fun and nostalgia in the 90s movie in the Oscars. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito Stare Down Michael Keaton at the Oscars. Arnold was Mister Freeze with Danny was Penguin. Michael Keaton is of course, Batman in the 90s classic movie as well the recently The Flash 2023 movie. Both were presenting when Danny in his Penguin persona spoke to Arnold's Mister Freeze, pointed at Keaton, “There he is! He’s right here!” Arnold replied, “You have a lot of nerve to show your face tonight,” Do note that, while Arnold was the movie's Mister Freeze, his movie Batman is not Michael Keaton. Go catch the Oscars for these classic moments!

Local production, King Of Hawker, is a simple movie to enjoy. There is no complex storyline. Just plain simple story of the main character got a divorce and goes back home where she took over the family hawker stall. This show could be Singapore's only movie with the most Cantonese dialogs. If you do understand Cantonese humors you will enjoy this show. Director Kelvin Sng wants to bring out the topic of our hawker culture. We do appreciates our hawkers where we get most of our food. Lastly after the movie you will sure feel hungry! 

Disney is producing a new X-Men cartoon. It is the continuation of the retro X-Men 90s cartoon series. In the 90s, when Marvel Comics is not owned by Disney, they published many good comics as well produced cartoons based on their characters. One of the best cartoons would be the X-Men. It would in it\s 5 seasons features many Marvel comic characters, either story wise or just a screen appearance. It introduced the Marvel world to many who doesn't follow comics. After the show ended, many other shows followed but isn't that successful. Moving to present day now, Disney owns Marvel. With all the Disney products not doing well and not giving the fans the story that they preferred, most of the shows are just a comes and goes. Right now I would expects the same from X-Men 97, that is the title of the new show. The looks are similar but you can see Storm with her long hair gone. Expect more changes. With all the gender diverse stuff going on in the comics, expect them to spill into the show. A good way to ruin one of the best show ever.

It is the Lunar new year and surprisingly, there is nothing great in the cinema or free to air TV. While the local made comedy Money Not Enough is good for the local taste, it's mix of dialect is a turn off for some that doesn't understand Hokkien. You could also watch the Action movie The Beekeeper. The show about justice served by a one man wrecking machine against corruptive agents. This one man is Jason Statham and his movie has the entertaining element.

 

 

Taylor Swift have topped Elvis Presley with the most weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. This chart dates back to March 1956, that is more than 33 years, before Swift was born. Do note that in the old days, artistes only have radio or television, in the later years to promote their songs. Now in the modern hi-tech era, there are multiple ways to promote and this goes worldwide in seconds with the internet.
