It was supposed to be a vacation period. Unfortunately my companion had hurt her legs and so no vacation. Consider it blessing as it wasn't serious. Will plan for another trip soon. Hopfully will be better.

Museums visit

Went to the Heritage Museum and the Philatelic Museum. It is free admission. The view and feel of the old days of Singapore is at it's best. However they should include guides that speaks dialet, for those folks that couldn't understand mandarin or english. At the Philatelic Museum, the look at the classic mail boxes brings back memories. Also there is the DC comics Justice League exhibition. You get to see Superman and other heroes stuffs and stamps!

If you haven't heard, U2 is giving out their latest album free to iTunes users! I may not be a fan of U2 but their sound will definitely be right for your taste. Unless you did not grow up listening to these 80s 90s bands and music, you will find these songs odd. I doubt you hear much of them on local radio. Anyway it is free and I am keeping mine free U2 music, even thought I haven't played them yet.

The trip to Malecca is excellent. You get to see the night bazaars and how the locals there really reminds me of how some night bazaars here. And there really isn't much difference between the people there and here. It is a refreshing view of not looking at buildings clogging the sky.

Finally got a taste of A&W after years. Yes it is the original A&W root beer float. A surprised find on my trip to a JB mall. A new location but still feel that JSL and City Square a better destination.

The World cup is running wild now but it just doesn’t feel as hot as it used to. You doesn’t hear people shouting goal in the middle of the night. It seems due to the high cost for the matches, people now have to find their own way to watch and there isn’t any groups gathering together.

Managed to cleared most of my stuffs into the storage. It took me days and a few trips to get them all there. With help from Yu Ling and my brother to drive the big boxes. Now my room is plain empty and you can even hear slight echo.

Getting a self-storage isn't that simple without any movers. My own collections of comics could turn into heavy boxes when stacked together. Even some pieces of documents can be excess weight. Why is it that most storage places are in ulu places or far away places that is only accessible to those with cars?

If you listened to radio, you would have noticed the DJs would vanished from the airwaves and appear back at another station. It would be quite common here since the circle is small. Just that somehow when one decide to jump ship to a competitor, he will bid the listeners farewell and would say he is going somewhere or will doing something else. Then after probable a few months he would be back in someone else's studio. While I understand it could be part of a contract that you can't announce that you are going to the other studio, it just isn't right to say something else. Just say good bye and that's it. It just sound wrong. At least that's my opinion.

The recent incidents only passwords highlights the importance of changing your password often and to use a harder password. The ebay, paypal and also singpass shows that we shouldn't rely on these websites to protect our data. Especially websites that contains our important data we should have a hard password and some protection features. Hackers evolves so the site owners should evolves too to update their system.

Time to purge our some of my comics. It is fortunate that I could pass them to a friend who does a selling of comics at some bazaar. I don't have to waste them good reading material and now hard to find single issues to some recycle bin.It isn't about the money here but about finding someone who cherish them as good comics.

Thanks for the concert. It's been years since I been to a concert. My last concert was Mavis Fan's. This time the locations is in Resort World. The songs were nice and enjoyable.

Some vandals happened and now they got arrested. Are they stupid or just a moment of excitment? In today's society, anything that you do can be tracked and traced over 90%. If you want to voice out something, certainly not to tresspass into restricted area and spray your message. Right now that you got caught, the law will send you their message.

Got to made purchase of a Rodimus Prime Transformers G1 Commemorative Reissue from ebay. And the seller is a local user. Bought it for $60. Such a figure would usually be over 100s and I would considered a good deal and it looks and feels new. Haven't quite fiddle the toy yet. Will check on it more when I am free.

Just read this article. Old Chang Kee apologised twice for a insect in curry puff incident. Getting insects in the food is every food stall's nightmare. If it does happens, the stall will have to be apologetic and take it as their fault since NEA will sure come snooping. Of course there will be the low life consumer that may, in rare cases did something. Or the consumer could be nasty and demand more than just apologies. In any cases, food stalls just need to be humble, if it isn't their fault, they would be cleared by the authorities. Having arrogant staff will just make matters works. Sure that there are shortages or workers but getting that hard to find workers vs getting costumers friendly workers, which one would you prefer?

Today newspaper, an article of someone using comparison of phase "taste like horsepiss" and "hot like hell". IMO you can never use them as comparison. As we get the idea that hell is hot, we never get to experience the hotness in hell. As for taste like horsepiss, anywhere with horse, there will be piss. So if you want to use that to describe something, unless you have tasted horespiss, you shouldn't be using it. It will only invite some keyboard warriors and maybe potentials appointments from those official dudes in formal ties and suits. There are enough words in the dictionary to put message across so choose them wisely.

They say, if there is no obstacle, the road probably leads to no where. Ever think of what obstacle does it mean? I would say it would mostly be actions of fellow men. Not happy that your road is smooth ride that they would put obstacles in front of you. So what would be the course of action? Some would say to face it like a man. Others would probably go to another road. You face it either way as such road blockers are everywhere. They probably have their fair share and decided to share their obstacles. Whatever the reason, relax and pass the obstacle without stress. If it is too much then move to another road. No need to stress yourself over it. You can never please everyone. And those that doesn't get it will gives you a piece!

Today is more temple visit. Two temples side by side with one that got a giant lying buddha. Next it at the Penang Hill and took a ride on a monorail type going up hill. It was amazing to see the town below from above. Hot day and no rain.

Today is holiday time! On the way to Penang. Organised by an opposition party, no politics here. Taking plane to Penang, the plane ride is refreshing. A lot of temples here. Also noticed a lot of the mama type shops selling similar stuffs. The alternative lego toys are everywhere. Staying at the hotel, just next door is actually four malls that are inter connected that I almost got lost in it. A bit tight for time, it was a challenge to get back to the hotel on time.

Had been to Har Par Vila after a long time. The last time visited was a small kid. The place is more or less what I remembered. The coloured wall and statues. It shows all the myth and legends as well moral and enthic stuffs of the chinese. Can makes you think a bit. Also there are many animal people which doesn't seems to have any stories...

This whole week have been a aviation disaster for Malaysia as one of their airline, MH370 went missing. There is no sign of any wreckage and so anything about it breaking up is not conclusive. Could it become something out of TV like LOST? And the chances of something paranormal such as UFO or Burmuda Triangle type of scenario, in slim slim chance, may occur. It could be one of those unsolved mystery. Until then, the search is still going on and hopefully, soon there would be a closure with happy endings.

Had watch a movie with a unique storyline. The movie is MOON. It is about clones. Watch the show if you haven't. It is not an action show but it is certainly not boring. Unlike similar shows like THE ISLAND, the MOON seems to indicate the technology to create a clone with programmed memory and personalty of the original person is available, in that era, which I did not notice if they did or did not indicate what year. What I am baffled is that, if they could have a clone to work, why not have a group? They could also set a expiry duration for them to go into slumber. Interesting ending however but quite vague and with all these "conspiracy" stuff it could happen for real when it all boils down to profits.

The Popular Book sale at the expo, as expected doesn't really have much what I want in books. Guess they are just clearing their old stocks. From the look of it, the people there seems more like parents that goes squeeze at the assessment sections. Some children will crowd at the small comic section, which are some lesser known chinese mangas. Guess the book fair at mid year would be more interesting.

Went to JB and didn't expect that JB malls have the green lantern lego type superheroes. It is the Hal Jordan collection. Hal Jordan in the different colour lantern costumes except yellow. Also managed to get the Cyborg Superman. These toys can't be found at any local shops but they are common in JB mall. Not a bad purchase.

Got to watch the LEGO the movie. It was a fun and entertaining show. The music is nice too and it doesn't feel a bit of lameness anywhere in the show. Also it will brings back your memories of your own LEGO experiences and the appetite to play them again. If you find that your childhood legos are gone or new legos are too expensive, then there are the third party type. These are lego compatibles which are not lego products but they could work with the lego bricks or blocks. Of course they are cheaper and more alternatives too!

If you are a PC gamer from the good old days of DOS and the old slow poke computers of the 90s, you would have played many good classic games. One of them would be Wasteland. A third person RPG game about four rangers in a apocalyptic world. It was a interesting game, much better than games of present days where most games lack the good storyline and plots as well varieties. Today, I read that after over 10 years, the creator of the original wasteland is back with a sequel. Just like some good movies, to get a sequel direct from its creator is usually good as the creator's own vision would be there. I will be looking forward to it.

Today is Chinese New Year Eve. Yes but there is no mood. If you do go to the new year bazaar or switch on TV or listen to radio, you don't hear much new year music or songs. In the old days, these music will be heard all day and the festive mood is there. It seems that as usual, money is the root of the problem. Those "copyright" people had wanted to be paid for these music to be played. On TV and radio, as usual, such music are not popular and thus not play much so as not to lose listeners. The TV since no one pays to put these festive mood on air they will not be seen. The usual no money no talk attitude. :(

Now one year later, Peter is making a come back. It is an expected move. The original character will always be the best. At least for most of them. Now it seems Doctor Octopus' soul would probably float back to a new evil body where he will lives to be evil again? Maybe just like Venom he gets to be good and bad when he likes it. Anyway I don't really read them comics once they do a big reboot. Also they should stopped drawing them kiddy looks and also brighten up the colours!

As usual, transport fares will be increased. Every year the operators will want to increases. They only know how to increase fare but did they ever increase their services? Always jam packed trains and buses is the main headache. I will doubt the decision makers for the fare increase ever take the trains or buses at the peak hours. What is the justification for the increase? I don't see any improvements at all.

You read the news.... Dark Horse had lost the license to continue publish Star Wars comics. Marvel had got it. We all know that Marvel is part of Disney and when they bought Lucasart, it will be a matter of time for the Star Wars comics to goes to either Marvel or one of the Disney owned publishers. With that in mind, be expect the Dark Horse created universe with multitude of histories and own created characters be all run down the tap. As with other franchies such as Star Trek and Transformers, when you goes to a new publisher, the story starts a new. Everything will goes back to basic at the point where the official characters and based on in official movies or shows. Lastly, the chances of a Star Wars spoof by Disney characters will be very high!

It is the second day of a new year. Seems so fast all the holidays are gone. You get to have a christmas and new year and plus their holiday eves at the middle of the week made it so easy to pass. Now the next holiday will be the chinese new year. Enjoy with a breeze.
